‘Judges called their work “incredible,” highlighting the innovative events, partnerships, and real difference made in people’s lives, especially in hard-to-reach communities.’

Judges’ Comments on Selce’s Energy Advice Team

Our energy advice team was the winner of the Fuel Poverty Action award at the Community Energy Awards in Sheffield on 17 November.

Our founder and CEO Giovanna Speciale was also recognised for her work, awarded the Community Energy Champion award, which each year goes to an individual working in the community energy sector.

In 2024-5, we supported 4947 households across Greenwich, Lewisham, Bexley, Bromley, and neighbouring boroughs. Of these, 2392 received tailored energy advice and targeted fuel poverty support, reflecting a 164% increase in reach over the past five years.

In that time, our energy advice & targeted fuel poverty support unlocked over £1.06 million in total household savings — an average of £442 per family — and are projected to save approximately £968 per household over 3 years.

This work prevented an estimated 1095 tonnes of CO₂ – a 377% increase compared to the previous five years – and supported public health by reducing cold-related illness and financial stress.
