How do community share offers actually work?
Safe to say, it’s not always 100% clear to everyone.
With this in mind, we put together an infographic, based on our current share offer at Charlton Park Academy: with the background, the solution & how it then works over the next 10 years:
Investors buy shares → Selce installs the heat pump.
The school pays Selce a fixed annual fee (pay-as-you-go, not per kWh).
Savings are greater than fee → the school saves from day one.
Selce owns, insures and maintains the system for 10 years.
After 10 years, ownership transfers to the school — a 20+ year asset they didn’t have to find £70k for.
Heat pumps deliver around 3 units of heat for every 1 unit of electricity.
Most of that electricity is generated on the school’s own roof — making this some of the cleanest heat available anywhere in Britain.
