We'll ring you back from an 0204 number within 5 working days.

Why are we helping with loft insulation?

In the UK, unfortunately, we have some of the leakiest housing stock in Europe, which means colder, damper harder-to-heat homes.

With 25% of a building’s heat lost through the roof, loft insulation is one of the most effective changes you can make to your home to cut heat loss, reduce your bills and your carbon foot print.

In partnership with Royal Borough of Greenwich and Lewisham Councils we are helping homeowners reach the recommended 270mm of loft insulation.

After you’ve completed the interest form, we give you a call back within 5 working days where we have a 10 minute phone call to go through some questions and check if you qualify for any grants.

After which we can book in loft assessment to check on the condition of your loft and talk through what you want for it and provide some rough figures of how much it will cost.

Then, we can get some quotes in from  can get some quotes in from trusted contractors.

If you need help clearing things from your loft we can contact our clutter-clearer, Rachel at Room2move.

If you’re working with our contractors, £200 will be deducted from your invoice.

If you’re going the DIY route, we can have a conversation with you about what you need to do.

And, we will reimburse you £200 after you’ve provided photographic evidence that you’ve done the works and along with a receipt for materials.

For your peace of mind, we come by afterwards to make sure that the works are well done and that there are no ventilation issues.

No problem, just get in touch. We can arrange to reimburse you the £200 with financial evidence and images of the install.

We help first by checking if you qualify for either the Energy Company Obligation or Great British Insulation Scheme.

If you do, a retrofit assessor from our Future Fit Homes team will be in touch to organise a retrofit assessment to check if your EPC report is correct and what your home needs to make it more energy efficient. They will have a conversation with you about what changes they recommend to your home. Based on their findings and assuming your needs and the grant align, they will refer you on to contractors that we work with that are authorised to deliver the grant.

The fourth Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) Scheme is a government programme in Great Britain to enhance home energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions. It mandates energy companies install energy-saving measures in homes to alleviate fuel poverty at no cost to homeowners.

It primarily focuses on providing funding for multiple energy-efficient home improvements to:

    • houses with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D or below (You can find yours out here)
    • House holds with a gross income below £31,000 per year OR
    • Households in receipt of certain benefits
    • OR with some on-going medical conditions

The Great British Insulation Scheme (GBIS) is a grant to help homeowners make their houses more energy efficient.

Unlike the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) 4/Flex funding, GBIS only focuses on installing one insulation measure per property, including loft, wall and floor insulation. In order to qualify, homes need to:

    • Have a Gross household income below £31,000 per year OR
    • Be in receipt of qualifying benefits, and/or one of several medical conditions adversely affected by the cold.

    About Selce

South East London Community Energy (Selce) was born in 2014, when a group of people living in Greenwich & Lewisham became so concerned about climate change that they decided to come up with a formula that would help to create a clean and just energy future.

Throughout our first ten-years, we have set up projects that address inequality and seek to reduce our collective carbon footprint at different points in the energy systems.

To date we have built 11 solar arrays on community buildings in SE London and five several buildings’ lighting systems to be more energy efficient. We are opening share offers this year for five lighting system upgrades and four solar array on community buildings.

We’ve helped well over 4000 house holds with their energy bills and we are pleased to now be able to help homeowners make their homes more energy efficient through the Love Lofts and Future Fit Homes pilot programmes.

    Are you thinking bigger?

Our Future Fit Homes team can help you navigate making larger energy efficiency upgrades to your home, through the provision of free or low-cost whole house plans, and other hand holding services.
