We are very sad to have lost two members of the Selce community recently and would like to pay tribute to them here.
Dave Sharman was a co-founder of the Greenwich Green Party and spent most of his life campaigning for a more sustainable world. He was a passionate force in many local groups and brought wisdom and enthusiasm to Selce’s management team during the formative years of the co-operative’s life. We echo the words of Philip Connolly from the Greenwich and Bexley Green Party who noted, ‘To all, he brought quiet determination and his obvious commitment, but also his gift for achieving consensus and unity of purpose.’ Dave died in a care home aged 83.
Joe Nortey joined the Selce team as a volunteer energy champion with the co-operative’s Empowering Elders project. He worked diligently to help his neighbours and local community to reduce their energy bills and keep their homes warm in the winter months. Project manager, Ying Man recalls, ‘Joe was a man with a big smile and an even bigger heart. He would light up a room with his warm presence. We are grateful for his contribution and shall miss him dearly.’
